Personality Powering Performance
EM-Power, Inc. have developed an innovative personality profiling approach using Keirsey's concepts of Temperament and Jung's theory of cognitive processes resulting in each individual identifying their MBTI® Type (or Working Style). This methodology has been customized to today's fast-paced, competitive environment and successfully implemented for over 5,000 people within a wide range of corporations including KPMG, Oracle, Cisco, Unilever, Aspect Telecommunications and Network Associates. This technique is also documented in Turning Team Performance Inside Out, Teamwork from the Inside Out Fieldbook, and in Dating, Mating and Relating (see bookstore for more details). Em-Power is a provider of MBTI® certification programs and Continuing Education Units within the USA and a presenter of Master Classes in the USA and Europe. Having profiled each individual's Working Style, numerous applications are then possible.

Why Personality Powering Performance?

BUSINESS NEED

Why the Need for the Service? What is Required?
Individuals
  • Individuals are struggling with the rate of change and feeling satisfied with their work life.
  • In addition, individuals are experiencing more extreme time pressure - too much to do in too little time.
  • Individuals
  • Individuals need a greater awareness of their strengths and possible challenges in order to understand what type of work will be interesting to them.
  • Understanding core needs and driving forces can increase resilience to stress.
  • Why the Need for the Service? What is Required?
    Management/Leadership
  • Many people enter management without a clear understanding of what leadership skills are required.
  • At the same time, the old style of command and control management is not effective. Managers need to be able to inspire and direct their people's energy, rather than telling them what to do.
  • Management/Leadership
  • A greater awareness and understanding of the management function.
  • Leaders need a greater understanding of how individuals are different to each other - what drives them, what type of information they gravitate towards and the criteria that they use to make decisions.
  • Why the Need for the Service? What is Required?
    Teams
  • With increased reorganizations the team is a critical unit in business required to achieve results. Yet continuously teams fail to deliver on their promises due to individual differences and lack of team direction.
  • Many team interventions fail because team members do not understand their unconscious driving forces and behavior patterns.
  • Often conflicts arise because individuals possess different approaches and use different styles to communicate. As a result, team members can appear to be at odds with each other.
  • Teams
  • A process and methodology for improving team performance by first understanding the dynamics of the individuals on the team, and then introducing steps to self-diagnose and increase team performance based on team attributes and possible challenges.
  • By proving a framework for understanding team member's behavior, it is possible to value and capitalize on team member strengths and minimize team members' weaknesses.
  • Learning about different personality styles in an objective way can reduce the potential for conflict and increase the likelihood that individuals will flex to other's style.

    What clients have to say about EM-Power's applications of type and temperament in their business;
"In uncertain times, the power of working together for a common goal is more important then ever. Nations, companies and individuals know this well. Susan Nash (and Courtney Bolin) have turned the cliches about teamwork into practical actions, and in doing so have added many a tool to our toolbox. I'd want them on my team and her book in every team member's hands."

    Louis Patler, Ph.D./President
    The B.I.T. Group
Author of If it ain't broke...BREAK IT and Don't compete, Tilt the Field

"The insights we gained about ourselves as individuals and about other teammates helped me build a very effective and aligned team and have a lot of fun while doing so! I would recommend Susan's methods to anyone seeking to improve team effectiveness."
Ravi Oswald, Director of Operations, Raychem Corporation

"The two days of applied workshop time gave a team of 14 people a foundation of understanding that became the basis for finally developing trust and meaningful communication. The break-through was essential to moving this team from a past-oriented perspective that was cluttered with blame and excuses, to a present-oriented approach that focused on cohesive planning and results"

Thomas M Kelly, Director, Worldwide Training, Cisco Systems, Inc

"With the help of Susan Nash's techniques, training, and coaching, my management "team" was able to transform from a group of intelligent and motivated individuals, constantly at odds with each other, into a true, well adjusted team of senior managers. They found the type and temperament tools to be so useful that they unanimously decided to engage Susan Nash to provide the same training to the members of each of their individual teams. The positive impact on our business has been obvious to all."

Michael Knight, General Manager, FCI/Berg Electronics ASM Division

"Type, Temperament, and Teamwork is not just a catchy "T" phrase. Understanding each others different areas has helped my team have clarity in the strengths we have and areas of weaknesses we have. Communication among the various team members has opened up, and projects are coming to completion. Teamwork is at its highest peak yet"

Arthur Velasquez, Vice President Technical Support, Network Associates, Inc.

"This is one of the highest impact programs that I organized for my team when I was at Oracle. The ability to recognize different communication styles, sell ideas more effectively and implement solutions were of immediate benefit. I have also recommended the approach to Cisco and Interim"

In addition, the training created a common language and more cohesive culture, where individuals are more tolerant of differences. The programs have had a huge positive impact on the organization."
